Even though I am a Tax Accountant, my first article will be focused on our hopeful next President, Bill Self, the current Coach of the Kansas Jayhawks Basketball team. After all, Donald Trump has some fun and new tax laws coming out this year (slowly but surely), so this isn’t too far off topic.

During the past 14 seasons at KU where I am a proud Alumni, Self has given us 13 straight Big 12 regular season championships, 5 Elite Eights, 2 Final Fours, 1 NCAA National Championship, and a slew of NBA stars today.

He will be inducted into the hall of fame next week following his third time being a national coach of the year. He has the sixth best record in Division 1 history (197-29) and has a home record of 202-10 at the historic Allen Fieldhouse where the sport of basketball was invented. Because I like stats so much, that’s 10 HOME LOSSES compared to 13 STRAIGHT Division titles.

I’m not the only one who would vote for him, see this video…

Nuts. He can recruit as well as the best and he knows how to welcome kids to a boring state like Kansas and make it feel like NYC. Bill knows how to manage his coaching staff and very few leave.

Bill trained under the great Larry Brown and started out learning from his other coaches like Alvin Gentry, Gregg Popovich, Mark Turgeon, and Milt Newton. He knows how to make speeches…

and…

Bill Self is currently the NABC president for the league, so he understands the politics involved. Many students follow him, and those students learn from a charismatic and down to earth leader. Internationally, he has led the KU team to a gold medal at the World University Games in 2015.

If you don’t believe me, believe Larry Brown the only Coach to claim a NCAA title and an NBA title here: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/larry-brown-bill-self-basketball-hall-of-fame/
