The beginning of a new year should be an exciting time for business owners. You in many instances get to start fresh, do away with what hasn’t worked, and implement some new strategies. Check out these three simple things you can do to make sure you start the year off strong.
Organize and Update – Get rid of things you don’t need and update the tools that you use to run your business. Perhaps there’s a tool that you never use anymore – get rid of it. Or perhaps there’s a software that can combine multiple aspects of what you do into one – purchase it. In my experience, the more organized you are the easier it is to establish a firm foundation and a system that can ultimately run itself.
Get Serious About Analytics – I get it. Just because you run a business does NOT mean you love crunching numbers. But sometimes, it’s necessary. Use the beginning of the year to start fresh when it comes to not only setting your business goals, but monitoring them. If you don’t take the time and energy to engage in metrics, how can you possibly know what’s working for your business or not? Whether you rely on a specialized software that gives you an overview of all relative activity, or dive into the insights of various platforms themselves, this information should be used to see what’s working and what’s not, so that you can adjust accordingly.
Reconnect With Your List (because you already have an existing one, right?) – First let me say that if you don’t have a list, get one right away! People buy from people they know, like, and trust so building a list is necessary to nurture your potential clients so that they’ll want to patronize. Now, for those of you who do have a list, make sure you’re engaging with them and communicating with them effectively. This not only “cleans up” the list to make sure that those who are no longer interested in what you have to offer remove themselves, it reminds everyone of who you are and what you offer so that you can focus on driving sales.
