I love books. I run a blog where I talk about them after all, but I also know how expensive they can get. In my years as a book lover, I have managed to discover a few ways to get books for very good prices.  I don’t always have a lot of money to spend on books so these 5 ways to get books for cheap are ways that I have used before. So, let’s get into the good stuff!

  1. Amazon Used Books:
This one might be pretty obvious, but you can get some books for pretty cheap on amazon.com just be warned that sometimes the quality is not the best. However, most of the time even with the shipping, you’ll still end up spending less than if you bought the book at regular price.
  2. ThriftBooks:
I have only used thriftbooks.com once, but I had a good experience. The books are all used and if you spend more than $10 they will give you free shipping. I highly recommend this company!
  3. Local Libraries:
This might sound a bit weird, however, I have gotten free books or books that were selling for really cheap a bunch of times. Just be aware that what the libraries are getting rid of might not be anything you’re interested in. Also, your library might not do this.
  4. Thrift Stores:
Your local thrift stores are a great place to find books for really low prices!
  5. Getting Books Sent to You:
If you are a book blogger or even if you want to just write reviews on Goodreads, you can sometimes get authors that will send you their books for free. I have gotten a few books this way since I started my blog. While they are mostly going to be ones from indie authors it can give you the chance to read more books that you might not have gotten around to. (Goodreads is an app and social cataloging website where you can share book recommendations with others in your online social community.)

I hope that you enjoyed my blog post. You can catch me on my regular blog Baleigh’s Better Life on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Saturday’s.
