Only a few days ago Roseanne Barr lost her show because of a racist tweet she posted; some people are calling for comedian Samantha Bee to lose her show because of vulgar comments she made about Ivanka Trump. Social media has been a flurry of some users demanding Bee’s show be canceled while others are sticking by the comedian.

What Bee said

On the latest episode of ‘Full Frontal’ Bee had some harsh words about first daughter Ivanka Trump. During a segment about the Trump administration’s practice of separating immigrant children from their parents this week, Bee mentioned Ivanka and called her one of the nastiest words in the English language.

“You know, Ivanka,” Bee said, looking directly into the camera. “That’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c***!”

Backlash was swift and quick. In a tweet Bee apologized saying, “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

Bee tweet

TBS, the network that host Bee’s show, also apologized for the comedian’s comments and took some blame for airing the episode. Even though Barr and Bee’s situation seemed to be similar, they won’t have the same result. TBS has announced Bee will keep her show and not be fired.

White House response

The White House issued a scathing response and called for TBS to take harsh action against Bee. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called Bee’s language “vile and vicious” and went on to call out the “silence by the left, and it’s media allies.” Sanders didn’t explicitly say that Bee should be fired but did make it clear that TBS and Time Warner needed to do something.

Many notable conservatives jump on twitter to voice their opinion on the matter. Many of them called for Bee to be pulled from the air and said there was a double standard. Other Twitter users pointed out that Barr’s tweet and Bee’s statement were different.

Even though Bee’s statement was vulgar, it only focused on one person and didn’t go after an entire race like Barr’s tweet.
