Selection of Michigan’s lighthouses are featuring on limited edition cans of Vernors soft drinks after the success of previous series.

 

Soft drinks company Vernors has partnered with travel and tourism organization Pure Michigan to celebrate coastal landmarks of the Great Lakes State. The collectible limited-edition cans feature seven of Michigan’s iconic lighthouses.

Forty Mile Point of Rogers City, Old Mackinac Point of Mackinaw City, Point Iroquois of Brimley, Point Betsie of Frankfort, Little Sable Point of Mears, St. Joseph of Port Huron and Fort Gratiot also of Port Huron and which is the state’s oldest lighthouse will all be showcased as part of the collection.

Vernors first teamed up with Pure Michigan in 2017 in an aim to highlight the state’s famous lighthouses.

Five of Michigan’s other lighthouses were then featured, including: Big Sable Point, Crisp Point, Eagle Harbor, Grand Haven and Tawas Point.

 

Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) owns and licenses the Vernors brand. Created in 1866 by James Vernor, a Detroit pharmacist, Vernors is the oldest available ginger soda in the U.S. It is just one of KDP’s 125 brands. Their portfolio consists of soft drinks, speciality coffees and teas.

Beth Hensen, market development manager, KDP said: “Vernors is a Michigan original with a proud 152-year heritage and a devoted following in the state unlike any other soft drink. We want to celebrate what makes this state such a special place to both live and visit. Through this promotion, we hope our fans will enjoy these keepsakes and be inspired to visit and take pride in these one-of-a-kind coastal treasures.”

Travel Michigan is part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the leading advocate for business and community development. Their vice president, Dave Lorenz said: “We’re delighted to be partnering once again with Vernors to feature our state’s picturesque lighthouses. With 129 lighthouses standing along 3,200 miles of Great Lakes coastline, we are proud of these iconic landmarks that make Michigan unique.”

The limited-edition lighthouse cans will be available for purchase throughout Michigan from July to October 2018.
