Kensington Palace is asking for “understanding and respect” after news broke that Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, won’t’ be attending the royal wedding. This follows a few whirlwind weeks about Markle’ family. Meghan is set to marry Prince Harry on May 19th.
Markle’s staged photos
A few weeks ago, Thomas Markle went viral when photos of him studying a British history book surfaced on the internet. Users of social media were quick to make jokes, and some compared it to studying for a test at the last minute. Thomas was also seen getting fitted for a suit, jogging, and looking up pictures of his daughter with Prince Harry.
However, a few days later it was discovered that the photos were all staged. Witnesses said they say Thomas Markle show up at the various locations with a camera crew. Shortly after the pictures were discovered to be fake Thomas decided he would not attend his daughter’s wedding.
Meghan’s sister, Samantha Markle, went on TV to say she was the one who staged the photos. She claimed that she was trying to get the world to see her father in a different light.
Markle forced to back out again
Meghan reportedly talked to her father and convinced him to walk her down the aisle. A statement from the palace said, “Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion.” Meghan’s have been divorced since she was a child and were set to meet with the royal family this week.
However, a few days ago Thomas started to have severe chest pains and was forced to check himself into the hospital. On Wednesday, Thomas told TMZ he is scheduled to have heart surgery to “clear blockage, repair damage, and put a stent where it is needed.”
After the surgery, Thomas talked to TMZ and told the media outlet that he was okay but would need a few days to heal. The timeline put his attendance at the royal wedding in doubt. On Thursday Meghan confirmed that her father wouldn’t be attending her wedding. Closing months of drama surrounding Meghan’s family.
