On Friday, Azealia Banks appeared on the popular radio show “The Breakfast Club” to discuss a variety of topics. Banks talked about things like Donald Trump, Kanye West’s recent comments, upcoming music, and her previous criticism of Cardi B.

Banks has never been afraid of speaking her mind and has taken heated shots at Cardi B in the past. Cardi B is currently one of the most popular artists in music and burst onto the scene with her mega-hit “Bodak Yellow.”

What Banks said

Banks told hosts she was concerned that Cardi’s persona was harming the culture. She also claimed that the Bronx born rapper was only a “caricature of a black woman.” She claimed that Cardi’s spelling and grammar were so bad that if Bank did it, she would be “canceled.”

Banks went on to say that only a few years the conversation around black women’s culture had changed and was reaching an all-time high. She claimed that moments like Beyoncé’s album “Lemonade” help black women discuses power amongst themselves.

“Intelligent conversation going on national and then everything just kind of changed and then it was like Cardi B,” Banks said. It wasn’t long ago that Banks had applauded Cardi’s music and personality.

Cardi B. responses

It didn’t take long for Cardi be to get out social media to call out her critics and Banks. Cardi vented her frustrations over the standard that female rappers are held to compared to their male counterparts.

“Why is it that male rappers can speaker how they want act how they want but people constantly bash me for it?” the rapper said in one of her first tweets.

Banks got on Twitter to fire back at Cardi. Banks again expressed disappointment in Cardi B. claiming that she was a good example for her black female fans. Banks took another shot at the rapper’s English and suggested Cardi promoted unsafe sex.

Cardi also took to Instagram to post a long message responding directly to Banks.

Only a little while later the rapper would not only delete her message, but deactivate her entire account altogether.
