How I Built This presents the founding of Airbnb with Joe Gebbia.
At the early stages, Joe recalls sending 20 emails to investors, having 10 replies, 5 that turned into coffee meetings. Zero investing.
He recalls getting his Ycombinator application in at the last minute upon the request of his friend. Joe was shocked the next day to find out he had been accepted, Air BednBreakfast was accepted to go on to the final round which was an interview. The meeting doesn’t go so well but one critical thing happens at the end to secure the Ycombinator funding.
Airbnb now has more rooms than the biggest hotel chain in the world.
